The wooden floor creaked as I stepped on it. My breath quickened and my heart thumped wildly in my chest. The only thing I thought about was what was behind the door. A million thoughts, all of monsters grabbing me, raced through my mind. I took a step forward, my heart beat quicker with every step I took. Just a few more steps and I would be there. I took a deep breath, but it didn't help at all. I took a step, then another, and eventually I was in front of the door. Noises echoed through my ears as I placed my finger on the door knob then I grasped it. Slowly, I opened the rusty door.
There, I saw it. With its green skin, black hair and a bolt through its neck. I had only heard of this creature in books but I never imagined that I would be so close. It looked as if it were paralysed so I took a step forward. The floor creaked. It slowly turned its head towards me and let out a roar
My heart stopped.
